Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage involves using the fists, thumbs, fingertips, knuckles, forearms, and/or elbows to apply deep pressure below the surface of the skin.

It differs from traditional massage in that it is designed to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to help relieve knots of tissue in the ligaments, tendons, and muscles, which are a significant cause of muscle tension and pain. These knots, or tight bands of tissue, can also limit circulation as well as range of motion. This form of massage is also more focused based, and the movement is slower, as compared to traditional massage.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system, contains a white-blood-cell filled liquid called lymph, which helps rid the body of toxins and waste via the lymph nodes, which helps stave off infection. It also supplies the blood with oxygen and nourishment, which is transported to the rest of the body.

Some illnesses or other health conditions can cause the lymph flow to become stagnant or sluggish, resulting in a buildup of fluid in the body, mainly in the legs or arms, which can cause swelling. Other damage, including surgery, can also cause fluid to buildup in the lymph system and lymph nodes, especially the nodes in the affected area.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but can take a heavy toll on a woman’s body as she progresses through it. Often times pain and discomfort can build up in the back, hips, and legs as the body changes and adjusts to accommodate the growing fetus.

Pregnancy massage can help manage and alleviate these symptoms, allowing a woman to have an easier time with the changes in the body. Alleviating these aches and pains with massage can help improve sleep, circulation, and day to day mood.

Sport Massage

Sports Massage helps athletes train for their event by promoting the flexibility needed for their particular sport to help prevent injuries. However, it can also benefit those who exercise regularly.

When the muscles and other soft tissues are tight and stiff or damaged, it can cause a restriction in certain areas, which can prevent you from enjoying a full range of motion, and, thus, make you fall short in physical performance. Because the tissues are tight and constricted, any quick or lengthy movements can also cause the tissue to become stretched beyond its limit, which can lead to injury.

Sports Massage Therapy incorporates a variety of techniques designed to stretch and loosen tight muscles, which helps improve the soft tissue, as well as invigorates stagnant muscles for higher performance, and it can be used prior to sports activity to help prepare the body for the event.
